Zimmerman is the composer of "Psychedelic Relic," the theme song for the fortieth anniversary of the Summer of Love -- and a video of Zimmerman performing his song "Creation Science 101" was recently featured on the front page of YouTube, and has garnered over 750,000 views. And with over 11,000 viewer comments, it's one of the most discussed videos in YouTube history. ("Creation Science 101 may be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIwiPsgRrOs )

"Creation Science 101" may seem a natural selection for YouTube's front page, but Zimmerman finds the process mysterious. "It's far too complicated for me to understand," he says. "It must be the result of intelligent design."

His current CD is "Faulty Intelligence." The title has an artful ambiguity but there's no mistaking Zimmerman's point of view. His engaging melodies and wickedly inventive rhymes lambaste not only the "Faulty Intelligence" which led us to war in Iraq, but the greater lapses which have inflamed the Culture and Class Wars.

ROY ZIMMERMAN SAVES THE WORLD, ONE FUNNY SONG AT A TIME IN HIS CURRENT CD & SOLO SHOW "FAULTY INTELLIGENCE!!"

What's funny about war, poverty, bigotry, homophobia, greed, lust and fear? Ask Zimmerman. He's been writing satirical songs for twenty years. The LA Times says, "Zimmerman displays a lacerating wit and keen awareness of society's foibles that bring to mind a latter-day Tom Lehrer." Lehrer himself congratulate's Zimmerman "...on reintroducing literacy to comedy songs."

Zimmerman founded and wrote all the material for the comedy folk quartet The Foremen, who recorded for Warner/ Reprise throughout the nineties and toured extensively, opening for Bill Maher, Dennis Miller, and even for President Bill Clinton. Writing over five hours of satire for the group, Zimmerman says "we never did it all at once, but we kept it ready in case we had to filibuster." The group was featured on NPR's "All Things Considered," and many other syndicated talk radio shows. They even got to sing Zimmerman's lampoon of Oliver North, "Ollie Ollie Off Scott Free" directly to the colonel himself!

Zimmerman is the composer of "Psychedelic Relic," the theme song for the fortieth anniversary of the Summer of Love. (An mp3 of the tune can be emailed upon request.) A video of Zimmerman performing his song "Creation Science 101" was recently featured on the front page of YouTube, and has garnered over 650,000 views. "Creation Science 101" may seem a natural selection for YouTube's front page, but Zimmerman finds the process mysterious. "It's far too complicated for me to understand," he says. Zimmerman's current CD is "Faulty Intelligence." The title has an artful ambiguity but there's no mistaking his point of view. His engaging melodies and wickedly inventive rhymes lambaste not only the "Faulty Intelligence" which led us to war in Iraq, but the greater lapses which have inflamed the Culture and Class Wars. Zimmerman's show is constantly mutating as new evidence of faulty intelligence comes to light. One new song (also posted on YouTube) trumpets the news that "Ted Haggard is Completely Heterosexual." Another imagines George Bush out on a date with Iraq. "I'll Pull Out," he promises.

Zimmerman lives in Marin County with his wife and frequent co-writer Melanie Harby and their two boys. About his new CD, "Faulty Intelligence." Zimmerman says, "I hope this record gets good reviews, of course, but mostly I hope it gets denied under oath by Karl Rove."

The last lyricist to work with Richard Rodgers, Ray was co-composer/lyricist of the Broadway Sherlock Holmes musical "BAKER STREET." Singing satirist Roy Zimmerman brings his scathing original songs to McCabes Guitar Shop Saturday, July 21 at 8 p.m. The evening features an album's worth of new material he'll be recording live.

Zimmerman is the composer of "Psychedelic Relic," the theme song for the fortieth anniversary of the Summer of Love. A video of Zimmerman performing his song "Creation Science 101" was recently featured on the front page of YouTube, and has garnered over 650,000 views. And with over 11,000 viewer comments, it's one of the most discussed videos in YouTube history.
"Creation Science 101" may seem a natural selection for YouTube's front page, but Zimmerman finds the process mysterious. "It's far too complicated for me to understand," he says. With influences as diverse as Woody Guthrie, Gilbert & Sullivan and Jacques Brel, but always with a twist of their own, Lou and Peter write songs of inventive and intelligent humor, appealing to all ages. Bob began his comedy career in 1986 when he entered the "Jewish Comic of the Year Contest” at the Going Bananas club in Philadelphia. Television, radio and personal appearances followed as he quickly honed his distinctive approach to stand-up. He has been seen on Good Morning America, Showtime, the BBC, and CNN, among many others. Today, Bob performs nearly 100 shows per year, drawing tremendous audience numbers and response. His humor is fast-paced and sophisticated, yet gentle and unhurtful: all in all, a charming and affable comedian. In addition to his solo shows, Bob performs frequently in an extraordinary pairing with Arab/Muslim comedian Ahmed Ahmed.
